Lucky Break (4:45 pm) – Lucky Break is a roots-oriented bluegrass band that brings a traditional and expressive voice to the genre. Their pure vocals, tight and intricate harmonies, and instrumental virtuosity, and driving energetic tunes have brought many accolades. Lucky Break lead singer and guitarist Jerry Wicentowski's clear, sweet tenor is one of the great undiscovered treasurers of contemporary bluegrass. National Flatpicking Guitar Champion Orrin Star said of Wicentowski, "He is a truly stunning lead vocalist . . . check him out if he's ever playing near you." Joining Jerry to form Lucky Break are Chicago bluegrass mainstays Marc Edelstein (tenor vocals and bass) and Drew Carson (mandolin), both formerly of Special Consensus. Tom Boyd (baritone vocals, banjo, and dobro), who played and recorded with former Ralph Stanley guitarist and lead singer Larry Sparks, completes the quartet. Lucky Break has mastered the depth and feeling of early bluegrass, but has plenty of creativity to spare for contemporary and non-traditional material as well.
