We encourage you to patronize our 2011 advertisers and sponsors. Let them know you saw them listed in our Festival Program. This will help ensure their support in the future.
And check for advertisements in the program that may offer special coupons or other discounts on festival day!
and especially note...
This year the Festival received a generous contribution from Target in conjunction with its Community Giving program, which offers store-based grants in support of projects which promote early childhood education, the arts, and family violence prevention. The Target Community Giving funds supported the Kids's Area and the performers.
This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. This grant funded the Workshop and some of the performers.
The Festival is pleased to be collaborating with the Northwest Area Arts Council which is presenting the Second Annual Midwest Fiber & Folk Art Fair at Lake County Fairgrounds in Grayslake, IL on July 24, 25, 26, 2011. We encourage everyone interested in folk arts to visit the fair on Friday and/or Saturday, and come to the Woodstock Folk Festival on Sunday. See the Fair ad in this year's program or check out the Fair's website for more information. “Come for the Fair, Stay for the Festival.”
Thanks also to Stage Left Café for their support of the Open Mike Stage; to The Backdrop, a friend of the Woodstock Folk Festival, Carol Obertubbesing (Board president), Annemarie Serra (Board member), Neal Brown (Board vice-president, program graphics and layout), and Ray Beth (Board treasurer, program advertising, printing, and distribution) for their support of the Festival; to our radio partners at WDCB (90.9 FM), WFMT (98.7 FM), and WNUR (89.3 FM) for promoting the festival on their programs; to our MCs Chuck VanderVennet, Rich Warren, and Mark Lyons, our sound engineers Maurice Smeets and Andy Andrick (Board member and promotion), and our Children's Area Coordinator Martha Hoar (Board assistant treasurer) for supplying their time and talents during the festival; to volunteers Gene Ann Alberts (Gene Ann's Yarns), Bonnie and Richard Smollen, and Kathy and Patrick Wentz; to Tasty Dawgs for providing food and drinks during the festival; to the Woodstock Unitarian Universalist Congregation located two blocks south of the square at the northeast corner of Dean and South Streets for providing a rain location; to the McHenry County Historical Society, the Woodstock Public Library (see display there in July), and the City of Woodstock for in-kind support; to The Woodstock Independent for its promotional assistance throughout the year; and to all of our advertisers, supporters, and partners.
This year the Festival lost two long-time supporters: Mike Epstein and Becky Seip. Mike was a donor to the Festival and always helped out at Festival Central. Behind the scenes he gave a lifetime of support to his wife Carol Obertubbesing; he was “the wind beneath her wings.” Both Mike and Becky will be sorely missed.
