Powerfully fusing original Americana, country, Southern blues, and “Texifide” jazz, The Flyin' A's present spirited performances that are both heartfelt and invigorating. Their music reflects the sincerity, grit, and soulfulness of two people who have embraced life with both hands, reminding us that we are not solitary beings meant to suffer, but are all connected as brothers and sisters.
This Austin-based husband-and-wife duo, Stuart and Hilary Claire Adamson, met at the Kerrville Folk Festival. Their name, The Flyin' A's, comes from Stuart's family cattle brand registered in Texas' Jones County at the turn of the century. They exemplify the strong songwriting, original sound, and diverse influences Texas music is famous for. They consider the challenges and hard knocks they've faced in their personal lives prerequisites for soulful singing and songwriting. Their songs come from the heart, and that's how they live. Music is the voice they use to communicate. Influences include Emmy Lou Harris, Willy Nelson, Steve Earle, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, and Patty Griffin.
